Bye Bye Blah Blazers

I don't know about you but every blazer that I encounter in the stores bores me to death. Everywhere you look are duplicates of the same dull shape, the same dull colors. You'll always be disappointed if you don't explore all of your options and if you don't give into a splurge every now and  then. I went on the prowl for a few dynamic blazers, and of course I found them via the internet. Often times your best bet to finding the more trendy, original, and dynamic items is through online shopping, especially from European sites. There are so many brands and brand items that are only available in certain regions, countries, and on online stores and boutiques.

Double Breast Tux Jacket by Monrow / $295 / show in boysenberry, also available in black /  Rachel Zoe's pick on piperlime.com
Vanessa Bruno Angular shoulder jacket / $660/ net-a-porter.com

They're definitely pricey, but if you love blazers, and wear yours almost every time you leave the house like I do, then you'll be getting your money's worth. Forever 21 just doesn't cut it all the time. Plus, blazers will NEVER go out of style. Just keep in mind that purchasing a blazer or jacket with embellishments might date it, and in that case save it for your daughter because we all know that history repeats itself.

CURRENT TRENDS

R: ASOS Navy Boyfriend Blazer / Was $84.99 Now $50.99 / asos.com
L: Silence & Noise Open Front Blazer / $78 /show in black, available in camel, charcoal, navy, teal, wine / urbanoutfitters.com

R: ASOS BLACK Foil Jacket / Was $101.98 Now $67.99 / asos.com
L: ASOS Premium Metallic Leather Shark Shoulder / Was $203.97 Now $118.98 / asos.com

1. Boyfriend Blazer (1st row R)

2. Blazers with no buttons (1st row L)
This trend first revealed itself last summer but I believe it will continue to grow. I purchased the above blazer from an Urban Outfitters store, and it was on sale for a steal you'll never believe, $15! I'm sure I'll be purchasing another one soon. Meanwhile the rest of you will be paying $78. Ha.

3. Exaggerated shoulder detail (2nd row)
This trend has also been around for a few months now. Seen in the form of the power shoulders (Vanessa Bruno jacket) and shark shoulders due to shoulder pads or other forms of construction.

One of the BEST sites for purchasing well made current trends for a reasonable price is a European site called ASOS.COM. They literally have HUNDREDS of selections and they also carry petite sizes. One of the perks of the site is that 98% of their clothing items can be viewed on actual models as they walk down a runway so that you can see the clothes in motion.  They even have 4 day express shipping to the USA for only $12 dollars (that's about the same price for some US based companies like Juicy Couture). BUT, you must be careful when ordering from this site because clothes are in European sizes, which can greatly differ from the size you wear here in the states. I usually wear a small, but had to order a medium, which are sizes 6 and 10 in Europe, and surprisingly enough I had to send the 6 back for a 10! The 6 fit everywhere but was too tight in the chest area for me because I am a little too blessed in the boob region.

WHAT DO YOU THINK?
